What is the purpose of purging nitrous?

From my understanding, the main purpose of purging your nitous system before you come off the line is to ensure that there is NOS running through the lines. This way when you flip the switch, the extra speed is not just in your head.

you know what I meant. As long as he gets the point. I shouldn't have answered considering that the way I feel about NOS is the same as the way I feel about breast implants. It's not natural. But hey, to each his own. Hope I was able to help.

Whoa now. We're talking apples and oranges here. A blower or turbo takes a motors natural fuel and forces it into the combustion chambers. Safely providing more power that is there all of the time when ever you need it.:nice:

NOS on the other hand, is a combination of gases that is introduced into the natural fuel system to create more power. Gases that are naturally unstable and can be dangerous in the hands of person who has no experience with it.:notnice:

I have never heard of someone blowing there motor, having an engine fire or severly scorching a piston from boost pressure unless there was more boost present than the motor could handle or lack of tuning.

This is just the way I see it IMHO. I'm in no way trying to discourage anyone from using what they want in their own car. To each his own. That is all
 
Read the whole quote Marlboro_Man. I said that I have not seen it happen in a car that has been properly tuned or in a motor that is capable of handling the pressure. Most guys that I see "playing" with NOS just experiment with the jets until they find the one that gives them the power that they want. Just install the kit and flip the switch. Of course, most of them are ricers, but the engine still blows.

off topic or not, you're wrong buddy.

my buddy blew his engine because he slapped a turbo kit on there and ****ed with the management to make it work. he wanted more boost, then he blew the thing

your ricer friends put more nitrous (read: nitrous oxide, not NOS) than the motor or tune could handle and blew their engine

and if you did any research on nitrous, you'd know that the only element being introduced into the engine that doesn't go in on an n/a car is nitrogen, which first of all is in the air we breathe anyway, and second isn't unsafe at all and actually just passes out with the burnt hydrocarbons.

i didn't think nitrous was cool or actually counted as a power adder at first either, but i've grown to respect it and actually plan on using it eventually.

so to each is own of course, but do some research on a topic other than vin desiel telling you his ten second car blew up because of NAWZZZ
 
Point made. However, being that I don't know your buddy and how good he is at tuning an engine, it's hard to say whether he knew what he was doing as far as accuracy is concerned, which in my book, puts him in the same spot as a ricer with too much Nitrous Oxide (thanks) and not enough brizzainsss.

Please keep in mind that cars are sold with blowers and turbos in them that are specifically tuned so that they provide power without blowing a gasket or whatever. When factory cars are sold with nitrous oxide kits built-in and tuned with the car, the opinion may change. Until then.....:p
