... thats used to take electrical connectors apart? Like taking the connectors off of fuel injectors? Yea, I know you can do it with a couple of scredrivers -- or various other objects -- but there must be a tool you can use so you minimize the chance of breaking the connector.

I think it's called a flathead screwdriver, if I am not mistaken....

The connectors for the injectors pull right off with 1 hand. If your talking about the fuel rails, then you need a quick disconnect tool set for like $10.

I have had some sticky ones myself so I feel DJHA's pain. I never used one of those tire-spoons err I mean wiring disconnect tools.
I use a small flat head screwdriver and my test light's pointer, like some sort of funky chop sticks.

I call it finesse and body english (which can include blowing on the connector to try and unseat it. ). With the tabs pulled up, you 'scoochie' the connector up via the chopsticks (which are against the retainer tabs on the connector body).
Or sometimes you can get one side of the connector unlatched and slid up just a hair so it does not relatch. Then you can undo the other side while pulling on the connector's housing (half the time the first side relatches anyways).

Justin, Yeah I fight connectors. In the desert, the plastic gets real brittle so I try to be gentle. I just recently had to do the 'Scoochie and chopsticks' method on the 88's stock alternator main plug (3G alt's dont have that plug). So DJHA's topic rang a bell. In my younger years I would break one side of the retainer clip off inadvertantly while trying to bend it so far that it could not relatch.

Another trick I learned, if there are tabs on both sides, is to only pull one tab so it's clear, then wiggle the connector until the other clears and it will pull out.

That's how I do it, and I have learned from breaking my IAT plug and several others. Finding replacement plugs isn't easy either.

Grab the wire with one hand leaving one finger free, place that finger over a clip, place another finger from the other hand over the other side clip, pull them out, then pull the wire off.

Yeah, i pulled out my injectors the other day and had some trouble w/ the tabs. on most of them, i just broke off a tab on one side and pryed of other side up and it pulled off easily w/ my free hand.
