Hey guys. I purchased a reman computer because there were parts shaking around in my old one and opened it up to discover burnt parts. So I purchased a reman. So today I go to put it back in, and while I am fighting around in the kick panel this things falls out. It is a small blue chip I guess that says superchips on it. I have never seen this before. Never knew anyone had touched the computer on this car before. Is this thing worth anything? Who would I need to contact o get info on it?

Also on the side of it it has A3M written in sharpie, which was the code on my old computer, My reman computer has A9L written on it, will this matter? And where does this thing plug into?

Sorry about pic quality, I was being lazy and used my webcam.

Really? Who cares, its attached to my laptop, easier than grabbing cables, resizing, etc.

Does anyone have any input on the subject?

looks like its a chip for the ecu. they plug in at the opposite end from the wiring harness plug. if that was in your ecu, the top should have been cut open to expose the section where that plugs in.

no clue what its worth, doesn't look like my sct chip. might be an old school non-adjustable one, in which case i wouldn't use it.

a3m and a9l are different ecu codes. a9l is a good ecu, i think a3m is also a remanufactured code.

hmm, I wonder if it was unplugged or came unplugged when I took my old one out. I did notice the back was open on my old one but thought they were all like that. The reman that I got also has the back open but the manufacturer covered it with duct tape. Maybe I should call superchips.

I wouldn't plug it in and use it, who knows what is on it. That some 90's technology right there.

well the stock computer is 93 technology? It may not be better then a new chip, but not much has changed with this motor since 93. I dont think superchips would have made a bad tune, how much better can a tune done today be? I may be wrong but seems like it may be better then stock? The car always ran real strong, I hit 13.1 with only slicks, gears, exhaust, cam, and I guess the chip. There is a superchips shop right here in Sanford, I am going to see if they can give me info on it. Do you guys think they can plug it into something and tell me whats on it? I am assuming this chip must be real mild as it was put on a completely stock car.

It plugs into the J port on the computer. I wouldn't use it, throw it up on Ebay as a Superchips "chip" for a A3M computer and someone will probably buy it.

I'm sure it's nothing more than a timing advance change in the tune, maybe a few little other small things that don't matter much. They could probably tell you some info on their basic tune changes if there is a Superchips place located near ya.

Cool, that would make sense, I am going to try and talk to superchips, doubt I will use it, especially since I dont have the computer anymore.
