Thanks. The Previous Owner must have Installed that Many Years Ago.I agree it looks like a cable from the auto parts store. Might have been used to replace the ground from the cylinder head to firewall. Those exposed braided grounds do fatigue and corrode over time.,
Either way, it really doesn't matter. You will have the battery to engine ground (the one you pictured in post #5) and at least one from the back of the cylinder head to firewall. You could do additional ones with no issue. Like some have said, lower engine block to k-member, alternator bracket to fender apron on passenger side, ....
Just be aware when routing additional cables of rotating and hot parts. Most people will try to keep additional grounds out of sight or less visible, but it really doesn't matter.
"Those exposed braided grounds do fatigue and corrode over time" boy thats the truth,i once had a issue with that ground strap that i would soon like to forget,i would come to a stop and once i hit the brakes the radio would die,then the car started dying everywhere and wouldn't start for a bit, finally after 2 months of this and ready for a asylum i was at work messing with the car and this coworker said "man your car just arced towards the firewall when you tried to start it" i could have kissed him on the spot and i dont go for that,lol,after i replaced that strap i never had trouble again,EVER.I agree it looks like a cable from the auto parts store.
