What is this part under the rear end?

This may be a dumb question but what is this part? I am diagnosing a rubbing driveshaft after putting in my motor mounts ( motor and tranny are offset towards passenger side and badly ) and I noticed this part on my car except its freaking tweeked to almost 45 degrees towards the front of the car. Anybody?

Axle pinion dampener (dog bone)

You can remove it if it’s in bad shape

Ahhhhh, the famous 'dog bone'
inspect you motor/trans mounts and the trans cross member for broken pieces

Got it thanks, car has 185K on the body and got new motor and trans mounts with the motor swap, Ill just pull it off!
