The problem is, i need to install my oil pressure gauge on this car and i need this part to be removed, and i dont know what it is or what i'm disconnecting. So any help would be appreciated.

I'm looking into my engine bay and there looks to be a sensor where my oil pressure line comes from on my other car. It's on the front top corner (on the side of the block) on the drivers side. Theres a long bolt looking adapter which is the same, but this one has a part and a wire on it going up under the upper intake manifold.

thanks everybody

That is your STOCK electrical sender for you oil pressure gauge in the dash.

Are you adding a aftermarket electrical or mechanical gauge.

Sounds like Rick has ya covered.

The stock sender is bell shaped and threads into an extension fitting that is 6 sided IIRC (on a fox).

Good luck.

I put a brass t fitting in so that I have the stock electric and the mechanical guage. That way no dead guage in the dash and I can check one against the other incase one shows no pressure or really low pressure

Do you want to retain the stock gauge being functional, as well?

If so, you can install a tee fitting where the stock sender is now. or since you are doing a mech OP gauge, you can remove the hex extension and tap a boss for the mech fitting and line to attach (this is not an option when adding an elec gauge).

I used a Tee to keep the original gauge functional.

Good luck.

Hissin, what kind of tee fitting did you use? I would like to do the same with my car over the weekend when my new gauges arrive from Jegs.

Let's see if I can remember this. The stock gauge sender uses 1/4" NPT threads, while your new gauge likely uses 1/8"NPT. I would get a 1/8" Tee fitting as well as misc brass to make this work. I had to use like a 2" long brass extension out of the stock hex shaped extension so both of my elec senders would have clearance.
Then I installed the Tee and in the outgoing side of it I put a 90* fitting so both my senders sat off to the side. This is all personal - you can do it like 100 different ways.
I would just figure out what you want to do and grab the brass to make it work. Remember to use adapters (1/4 to 1/8" NPT, etc where needed). You should be able to source it all from the home store. You can get a dedicated little 1/8" tee fitting from the parts store, but the home store version works fine IMHO.

Andy has posted pics of his before - I will see if I can find some.

Good luck.
