What is this thing?

Ok while looking around on the passenger side of my car like im going for the kick panel where the computer is located right directly across from that where the passengers left leg would be resting there is this small box. It is greyish lookin and has no words on it what so ever. It has a plug going in and out of it and then there is another plug up but it is open. It has a high and a low switch setting. What in the world is this box and what does it do???

can you snap a picture of it? It might be an amplifier for the Mach system.

can't be an Amp for mach. don't they mount amps on rear speeker box?

wish i could but i dont have a camera to upload the pics. You would think it would have something written on it but I guess not. Well if anyone else has any other ideas let me know. Maybe Ill open it up.
