Picture much explains it. What the hell is this thing used for?

If I remember right... It's a standoff bracket that goes from the back of the intake (upper plenum) to the rear of the block. I have one of those rolling around in my tool box too. Not having it installed causes no ill effects.

Yep. They are to keep the intake from blowing off incase of major engine failure or front end collision in which can make the upper intake fly out from under the hood and into your lap.

Ok, thanks. Thats what I was trying to understand, I figured it would have to be used for something like that but I figured what the hell, I would ask to be sure. Thanks guys.

Man if I leave that off I will gain at least .1-.2 in the 1320 from the weight savings.
