What Ive been up to.......(warning, 50 pictures)

Long story short. I DD the car this summer. Got sick of it and decided to completely tear it down and build it back up as a road racer. Im painting the undercarriage and all that jazz.

Here are the pics from the beginning to now.

This car has been undercoated for the last 20 years...Meaning its spotless. But literally has half inch of crud underneath

Im blasting the undercarriage but had to scrape most of the stuff away first. From start to finish I have 21 hours of lying on my back and scraping the undercarriage with a chisel

First, your car is easily one of the hottest 4 eyes on this site.

Second, turning it into a road car is awesome, just please don't bang it up! Also did you just clean up your inner fender air ducts or are those new? If they're new where can i get a pair? I pulled mine out and pitched them when i did my nose swap (dumbass) and now i've got an idea to use them again.

50 was an approximation lol. I DO however have a bunch more but Im at work now so maybe later.

The snorkels are my original ones that I cleaned the hell out of and then shot them satin black. To my surprise the paint stuck insanely well.

Any time you do plastic, get some Krylon Fusion...it bonds to plastic and no primer is needed..good stuff. You don't by chance know where i might get a set do ya? I found this really nice aluminum snorkel intake sort of like the 90* elbows you see on EFI setups, only with 2 inlets instead of one, and i'm gonna run 4 inch pipe to the fender well ducts and then run a K+N on each end of those down at the front of my grill. Double ram air ftw!

I just finished helpig a friend srape the undercoating off of a VW he has and we started with scraping and the two techniques that we had work the best for us were to either heat it with a heat gun so it peels right off or use a cross wire brush on a drill, this worked best for us as it just ate through the undercoating and was able to get into the crevices.

Those are pretty neat thanks for the link. My initial plans were to simply buy a carb bonnet (like on a blowthrough setup) and then run a cone filter in the fender.

That's exactly what i'm doing, except my bonnet has two 4'' inlets and i'm gonna run a CAI into each fender. The down side is that you've gotta buy two $70-90 K+N cone filters vs. one $50 round filter for a snorkel box like in that link, but i like to be different plus i love this bonnet that i'm getting.

Collected some more parts last night for my 5 lug swap. I got a booster off a 94 and the spindles, hubs as well. Also managed to get a set of inner fenders because my old ones got wrecked and cracked.

For some reason this picture makes the studs on the booster look totally crooked.

I'll post some more pics after I get all these parts cleaned up and looking new again.
