What Made You Want A Mustang?

Ever since I can remember I always wanted a mustang and now that I have mine I couldn't be happier. We are all mustang fanatics and love our cars, but I am just curious what is your mustang story? When was the moment you knew you wanted a mustang over a camaro or challenger/ charger?
For me, the moment when I knew I wanted a mustang was when I saw the classic 60's fastback with the louvers.

I wanted a Mustang because I knew that used parts are easy to find and there is plenty of good information on them. Also, they have more upgrades available than any other car I can think of

I've wanted one since i was about 12. Bought my first at age15! Yes, that was a few years ago and many many Mustangs ago!

I use to pick on my friend that his fox wasn't fast it was light. I was always a Chevy guy but last year my wife was due for a newer car we look at just about everything under the sun. But then she seen a 2010 gt and fell in love. After I test drove it so was I and now I have the 2010 and just traded my truck for a 65 coupe and won't go back to Chevy

A buddy of mine had a 90 lx 5.0 vert he bought brand new. I had a '77 F-150 that he borrowed pretty regularly. I would take his car and I just loved how easily it broke the tires loose at will. 22 years later I finally got mine - a 93 lx 5.0 vert. Restored it and started showing it a bit. Realized at the shows that the S197 would be my next one but with no immediate plans to get one. Happened across an '06 (shown in the thread "Added one to the stable") with 28k miles for a great deal and couldn't pass it up. So I went from 0 Mustangs to 2 in less than a year. If I'm fortunate I plan on owning at least one for a long time to come...

Lots o reasons.......competitive pricing, best bang for the buck (even Shelby's ) Ford didn't take govt bailout money and never stopped muscle car production.

so true about bail out money and they continue to dominate still. i bacame a ford fan in 2000 because of a truck. i ended up buyin that old truck and never have looked back. i got with mustangs when i got a great deal on my 83 and then found out what i had missin out on all these years.

We were always a Ford/Mercury family. My dad had a Ford Fairlane and my mom a Cougar followed by a Pinto. From the time I could walk I helped my dad work on that Fairlane. Also, a neighbor of ours had a '66 red Mustang that I absolutely adored, not to mention the fact that I absolutely worshipped him. LOL! I drove the Pinto as my first car at 16 but shortly before my 17th birthday, I came home from school one day to find a '80 light blue Mustang sitting in front of the house. I ran the Pinto into the next door neighbors yard I was so excited! I drove that car until it had close to 200,000 miles on it and we suspected that it had a cracked block so I had to get rid of it. After having a Tracer, an Escort, and a Focus I am finally back in the saddle and could not be happier!

My dad had a couple classic Mustangs over the years, and I had a friend in college who had a '91 LX 5.0 hatch. I even worked for a Ford dealer in the summer of '94 and got to drive the new SN-95 5.0s. But what sealed the deal for me was in the fall of '98, I saw (and heard) a new silver '99 with an aftermarket exhaust floor it down a country road. From there on out, that's what I wanted.

I think one of the things I love about the Mustang is it appeals to so many different people.
