hey guys, well i've got myself a dilemma, i've got to get new axles for my cobra, so i was hoping to get some opinions. i just want some axles i can bolt in. i've got 3.73's, and a girdle, and am not swapping in a diff or anything soon. so just a bolt-on. Moser and strange have great reputaions, any preferences? which axle out there is a good deal $$ ? thanks alot guys

I LOVED my Superior axles. Amazing quality. Better then Moser from the mouth of an expert. (not me)

I find this to be such an ignorant statement(nothing against you btw). Superior, Moser, and Strange are basically the EXACT same quality. They are all tried and true axles that can withstand crazy abuse. ALL of them can break at some point or another. Doesn't necessarily mean one is better than the rest.

Anyway, besides that, i was once in your boat. I rebuilt my diff and packed it with extra clutches while doing my 4:10's and ordered some 28 spline Mosers in the process. These brand new, with studs, ran me $240 + shipping from Redlineracing in SC. The machine work of them is just amazing. I sat with one on my couch for 20 min admiring it before i put them on.

 those look b-e-a-u-tiful. yeah, i'm pretty sure they are all 40 times stronger than stock, but i guess the price tag is also a decider. i've heard that one is made different than the others? maybe superior. and also, what else would i need for the install. ex: bearings, fluid, gaskets... thanks, i just want to make 1 trip to the store.

With just an axle swap nothing really. Since you're swaping diff covers i would recommend you change your diff oil and fluid. Look into GM's fluid. Its the best out there. As far as axles you don't need anything new. Just swap.

The Superior ones comes with new studs, bearings and seals.

One of the reasons I didnt go with the Moser ones, is that when I was searching on the forums, more than one I found that people had to GRIND the end of their new axle shaft to make it fit cause it was a bit too long. ( for the 94-95) I wasnt interested in doing that to my new stuff cause I knew I was gonna sell them not long after the install. So I went with Superior and never looked back and they can take a beating. See for yourself....

Not everybody believes they all are of the same quality.

I have a hard time feeling all that good about the Strange brand when one of our 94-95 forum members has had three sets of them bend.

Grady

hmmmmm, good to know Grady. i doubt i'll be punishing my axles like you Freak, but it's good to know they'll take that abuse. i might take it to the strip once a year with slicks, but the rest of the time is just street use.

i think i made up my mind. the superior kit seems to get a good overall rating, and it comes with the studs and bearings. i just have a tiny urge to change to moser's, but i've heard alot of fitment and snapping issues..........
