Ford recommends 5-20 for 01's and up, but a lot use 5-30 since it's more readily available (Wally World sells a Mobil One full synthetic 5qt jug for 23 bux or so).

The common consensus is that Ford switched from 5-30 to 5-20 for CAFE.

I think the newer '99-'04's take 6 quarts don't they? My Mach does. I use Mobil 1 5W-20 Synthetic. Some will argue conventional is just as good. Maybe so or not. If I'm throwing money away, that's fine, it's my money.

Royal Purple w/motorcraft oil filter, i only use 5 quarts and is 3/4 the way up on the dip stick markings. I think 5.5 is actually what they call for but this is off the top of my head.

I've been using the same Motorcraft 5w20 synthetic blend with Motorcraft FL-820S filter. I get the filter and oil from my dealer for approx $11 per oil change. Is full synthetic better? Possibly, but I wouldnt go 5,000+ miles to get the real benefit of a full synthetic.

My 01' owners manual says 5 quarts. I think the 02's and up said 6.

Same engine, go figure.

I use Kendall full synthetic 10W-30 which is viscosity SUS @ 100f - 350, 210f - 62.3 and a flash point of 462 which is perfect for a medium to high reving modular medium displacment V8 engine, it's $23.56 a gallon; but i work for the company that sells it so i get a discount. My 96 GT uses 6 qrts.

Mobil 1 5w30 and either a Purolator filter or a Motorcraft filter. i have a stash of about 30 motorcrafts at my house, but sometimes i forget to pick one up when i go to change the oil at work.

Any oil as long as you change it at recommended interval.

IMHO, there's no justification in buying a filter other than the FL-820S.
