that is the thermosts housing but what piece does this sit on top of? Its black and that housing screws on top of it. I need to know what part that housing sits on. Anyone know?

I am not sure if you are asking where it goes, or what, but maybe this can help....you can "sorta" see it in the pic below...if you see the fuel pressure gauge in the pic below...it is directly to the left of it in the pic (toward the front of the engine).

nvm if I paid attention I would have seen that it sits on top of the intake manifold and it is all one piece....go figure!

yup, its the water-neck, sits on top of the intake manifold.

yeah I know, and what sucks is I believe that waterneck may be warped a little as I have a leak. So to fix it I would have to replace the manifold. Someone should be shot for that design :-(
