What part is this next to the ign coil on the 94-95 GT?

What part is this next to the ign coil? It is a small tube. What does this thing do? The wire at the end is exposed and about to come off.

It's a noise suppression capacitor.

Mine was broke into, the car would jump and stall.. I replaced it and now it's good

I attached a picture below..
My car turns over just fine but its just not firing up! I re-stabbed the distributor lined it up again and still nothing! is there like a VERY sweet spot that it must be 100% perfect? something else has to be it.. don't know where to start.

This coil has a little pig-tail that seems lose like it's not connected inside anymore.. what is it?
