What plugs for Smog tube in head?

I did a search and i wanted to make sure that the plugs are 5/8 inch coarse thread I cant get to the dealership to get these but i can get to o'rileys do you have the specific part number? or should i but a 1/2 inch bolt with the right threads? thanks

I am not sure those holes are threaded. There might be copper plugs you can buy and hammer in there from a hardware store.

What I did was take the tubes that came off of the back of the heads, and hammered out the tubing from the part which bolts onto the head, turned backwards so the side with the hole faced outwards and the smooth back side was against the head and tightened it down, no problems since. Can't even see them unless you look back there.

F4ZZ-6E086-A is the right part number.
the 5/8" coarse thread you mentioned i think are for the o2 sensor bungs.
delaership should have them...about 2-3 bucks each i think.

Just go to the dealer and ask for head plugs, they aren't a motorsport only thing.

Buying the plugs from the dealer of Summit is the right thing to do, but I heard a while back that those threads are the same size as a spark plug. Can anyone confirm that?

Do you lose performance if you do not plug holes in heads.A friend of mine has AFR heads on his mustang no emmission stuff(all taken off) but I notice that his car very hot toward firewall(he thinks it headers) but he has emmission heads and no plugs.So is he losing horsepower or no.

They sell thermactor plugs which "plug" up the hole where the smog equipment goes (the same thing works for the front of you heads...you can get them at a Ford Dealership - part # F4ZZ-6E086-A or you can buy some from Summitracing - part # TFS-51400265...when you put them in the front of your heads your alternator bolt and power steering stud will screw right in perfectly...when I first seen they were to big doing my h/c/i swap...I thought I put the heads on backwards...you also use them (like in this case) to plug up the back of the heads where the smog pump goes...

87fcoupe - Tell your buddy to get those plugs as soon as possible...those need to be plugged...

head to home depot and pick it up for a dollar or screw a beheaded spark plug inside, or stuff some steel putty in there from autozone. good as new and dirt cheap.

why the hell would you rig something so ghetto to save 6 bucks???


and no, i can't say that a sparkplug would fit in there...i don't remember the size...but a sparkplug seems too big.
