I just searched google for "modern head unit bezel" and it came up empty. Can someone provide a link/photo/description?

It's in NPDs catalog, you can get the PDF from http://www.npdlink.com/

Yep, I have one and I'll admit I was less than impressed with it when I got it just because it feels like flimsy plastic and I realized I paid $100 for a piece of flimsy plastic.

*However* - I installed it with my new deck, and it looks like the original bezel and allows me to have an awesome sound system without going the hidden deck route. Looks fine once it's in...

Yeah, that's what I figured. Well the deep pockets crowd can always go for the $300 billet aluminium piece!

You could buy the $40 stock replacement one and take a dermal to it.

I looked through my brand new NPD catalog last night and did not see it. Just now it dawned on me that I misunderstood what this part is. I thought they had a face-plate that worked on new head units and made them look old. There's something incongrous to me about a modern head unit on the classic dash and I was intruiged by getting modern function with classic styling.

forget the stock option

i put a Custom Autosound USA-66 in my fastback and i love it... i've read some other posts that date back to 2004 about Custom Auto-crap ... but those guys must have gotten a bad batch cause i'm stoked... and the guy from my club that told me about it had a custom autosound radio in his 66 for 10 years without any problems... soooo ???? i'd say check out Custom's radios for your pony

The 8-track AM/FM was an option, I don't think it required any specific trim level.

Correct, the interior decor had nothing to do with the radio.
