Poboy- what tires are you running on? That will mean a lot in how you launch. in general:
street tires- leave just off idle like you are pulling out from a red light until you get used to it and then you can try to bump up the RPM.
drag radials- I launch between 3500-4500 depending on track conditions and I slip the clutch to negate wheel spin as I leave the line. If you hit most drag radials hard with a quick clutch release you shock them and they lose traction and spin
Bias Ply drag tires- It will depend on how new they are, the size of the wheel and tire, and if its a stick or auto car, but these are a lot more forgiving and can usually handle a clutch dump. You will also find the weak link in your car with these too! I launch between 4000-5000 on 7yr old 26x10.5x16 ET streets but due to their age I now have to do a slight clutch slip instead of a full on dump in order for them to hook.
