What should I set plug gap? pertronix, edelbrock heads, stock c.r.

I was wondering what I should set the plug gap at? I have a pertronix ignition, edelbrock rpm heads and stock c.r.. The pertronix site does not really say what to set it at, so I was wondering?

I ran ~.45 with a mild N/A HCI combo...thats with Edel alum 6037s using autolite 3924s. Used 3923s when i was more N20 focused...

I think the general NA consensus is just a bit over .50

This is one of those pain in the ass jobs.

Start at .035 and work your way up to what ever the "coil" will support. You will notice a drop off when too much gap is used.

i think it is up to 40000 volts

I used to gap mine at 35, but the last plug change I did, I went 40 and it seems to run just about the same. I don't think you can do 50, but then again, I've never gapped them that much, so I can't say for sure.

Try .040 first. Then, I would try .045

I have the pertronix and the flamethrower coil and I started with .045 and have had not problems.

This is also on a 66 289 A code, stock heads.
