after reading the thread titled "Belt Problems!!" i began thinking to myself, my ac is worthless cus it doesnt work and i dont really need my smog pump, why dont i get a shorter belt and put it on? only problem is i dont know what size i should buy. i was thinking about going to autozone tomorrow to pick one up but would maybe like some ideas on what size/part number i should ask for? anybody done this before?

Not sure what the size is w/o the ac, but w/underdrives and no smog 895k6 works. You'll prob. want something a little smaller. Use a string to measure it, or run a search here.

you'll only gain a few hp by bypassing the smog and ac. We bypass the somg becuse some of us dome have emissions testing in our state, so we get an o/r pipe, and bypass the smog and take all of it off to make the engine bay look cleaner and to save a little weight.

Like said before, take a string and go around your pullies and measure the length of the string to get the length of the belt you need. For just bypassing my smog pump, I had to go with the next size above the 895k6 which was 905k6 at the local parts store

I got mine from discount autoparts. was about $21 for the 905k6 so it should be a few bucks cheaper for the 820k6.

Napa, AutoZone should both carry the belts as well

AutoZone , if they don't have right size try Advanceautoparts

005k6 is around 16-20 bucks , 820k6 24-30 bucks

Why does everyone think you need to change the belt size if you get the "usual" set of 3 underdrive pulleys?
