What size bolts do I use to bolt the tailshaft to the insulator? The trans is a HEH-P and I see it’s a 64 trans that originally had the 25-spline output shaft. The bolts from the C4 are too big.

They're 5/8NC . The head on these is usually 11/16", so I believe 5/8NC is right.

This an early trans with the inline bolt pattern for the insulator. I tried bolts from a 67 C4 (½”-13X1 1/8”
) and they were too large to fit the toploader. Looks like it’s a 3/8” course thread in the tailshaft.

I see 356685-S (BB 153) as the type of bolt in a MPC illustration and 359080-S2 in an Osborn book.

The tailshaft to main case bolts are 7/16"NC by about 1 to 1-1/2" long. The mount bolts are either 9/16 or 5/8 NC

In the next day or so I'll have the tailhousing off of my Toploader and I can measure them.

I picked up some 3/4" and some 1" long bolts and the threads match. I didn't have time to play around in the garage today but I'll have to see if the 1" long bolts will fit.
