what size rear did the 86 gt come with?

did 86 gt's come with an 8.8 rear? and what gears are in it?

Not sure what gears ,Check the tag on the differential cover bolt but I believe it was the 1st year with the 8.8" rear end my 83 GT had a 7.5"

8.8 GEARS WER 3.08, 2.73, OR 3.27 I BELIEVE, THE TAG ON THE REAR WILL TELL YOU IF IT HAS NOT BEEN REMOVED...IF IT HAS THE PINION GEAR SHOULD SAY AS WELL

IIRC, all the 86s were 2:73. I'm sure that the 5 spd were all 2:73. I'm not as sure about the autos.

Edit: and yes... it's an 8.8 if the car was origianally an 8 cylinder.

my 86 had 2.73's. stupid gears. I have 3.73's now and 275 tires out back.
