What size slicks?

I need to know what size slicks would be optimal for my car at the track. Rear gear is a 4.30, first gear 2.95. car weighs 3000 pounds

I was thinking a 26inch tall tire would be optimal since I plan to trap around 105mph, that puts me around 6k rpm as I cross the line.

Should I maybe go with 27 or 28? assuming peak power is at 6k I would think that is where I would want to cross at.

Also, how wide, is 8.5 too little? is 10.5 too much? These will eventually be run behind the 302 I am currently building, roughly 400 fw hp. I don't want traction to be an issue.

Well I figured with 330 rwhp you will likely trap out in the 112-113 mph range at a 3000lb race weight. So I assume your 3000lbs includes you. If you make peak power at 6k then I would shift it at 6500 rpms. If you rev to 6500 then 26's tires will work alright with a trap of about 117. If your hell bent on not reving past 6k then 26's will fall short with a 108 mph at 6000 rpms. If it was me and you are truely making peak power at 6k, I would run a 26x10.5 on a 8" rim and rev it as close to 6500 as I needed on the top end. You'll likely cross at 62-6300 rpms.
