what size torx bit to remove seat belts?

Just like the title asks. I need to buy a torque bit (or whatever it's called) to remove the seat belts. Just want to know what size I need to buy. Thanks.?

If you have both metric and english allen wrenches, you can use one of them to take them out. They are real tight, but if you find an allen wrench that fits with no slop, you can use it to remove them. I have found that allen wrenches work real well on torx bolts.

I would do that, but I don't think I could get enough torque on an allen wrench to remove and then reinstall the seat belt bolt. I need to buy a torx socket so I can put it on a ratchet. Thanks for the suggestion though!

You just use a boxed end wrench to get leverage on the allen wrench

I saw the torx sockets at Autozone going for $5. I can spare $5 for a socket I'll be using quite a bit since I removed my rear seats and will be installing them again when needed. Thanks everyone!

Do NOT buy a cheap torx bit. Go to Sears and bu ya Crafstman T-50 (not a T-55). Otherwise you will round the bolt out or break the bit off eventually. It's around $7 for the one bit, but worth it. make sure it's the Crafstman one, not one of the cheaper ones.

Yup, i had to buy the cheap Autozone Torx kit twice because i kept snapping them. Those seatbelt bolts are really in there right.

I wisened up and bought craftsman now

you sure its a 50? i had both and the 50 would work but it wasnt as tight a fit as it should be and the 55 was perfect(i could have just had partially rounded bolts i guess)

Definitely a 50. Trust me, you do not want to round out these bolts! I did one and it took more broken tools and bloodshed than I care to mention to get it out!

ya its a T-50...and ya you dont wanna round them bitches..if theyre bad..use some lubricant and spray from the bottom if you need to..if you round it..be prepared to bust out the vise grips and pipe wrenches

It's a T-50 believe me ! I've taken my Seat Belts off twice within the last week.
T-50!

It is a T50. I bought a T55 first and tried it out and it was way too big. Went back and got a T50. I guess you guys are right, maybe I should go to Sears and get a good one. I figure I'm only going to use it a few times so I didn't think that it mattered too much. If the Sears one is only $7, then I might as well take back my $5 Autozone one and trade it. Thanks guys!

Buy the Craftsmen and add it to your collection, you will have it and probably not have to worry about that piece ever again. Worth the extra 2 bucks. Get the whole set, worth it. I love my tools! Tools are an excellent investment, compared to any car in the long run. The Craftsmen tools probably will out live you and can be passed on!
