I don't know, I looked at the Vortech S-Trim and it seemed like the best deal for a stock or lightly modified setup. Procharger seems to have an advantage as far as highly modified engines go. I'm eventually going to buy the Vortech system. Take a look on www.superchargersonline.com. That may help you decide. Not that I don't like Paxton, it just seems as Vortech and Procharger get most of the attention..... which may be a real good reason to go with Paxton or Powerdyne...

yeah kenne bell would be great. but they are not out yet for 96-98. would paxton give more hp then a vortech. straight up, no intercooler. how much hp would i get max with my current mods.

If I had the cash I would go with Kenne Bell or SVO blowers. There blowers replace the restrictive manifold on your car so you would kill two birds with on blow so to speak.
how much for a svo blower. where do you get one. how much hp does it give. are they available for a 96.

The website I directed you to will tell you how much hp/trq you can expect, I think it was near 350 rwhp +/- with the vortech (stock) , and I'm not sure about the paxton. But IMHO, if you later decide to upgrade your engine, the Procharger will take you the furthest than the others, of course, unless you go roots like the others suggested when they're available.

I have a p1sc. I personally think that the step-up ratio fo this blower matches the power band of the 96-98s pretty well. You see boost a little bit quicker with this blower than with the other centri's. The intercooler is a major plus as well. My car pulled 325 rwhp/376 rwtq. I have no track times yet, but the car is a completely different beast on the street. I've seen few vortechs with similar hp numbers for their mods, but the torque is almost always lower. The Novi 2000 is probably too much blower for our cars. I'd get one only to blow my engine and replace it with something better.

The other s/c I would seriously consider if you don't plan on changing your heads and going for 400+ rwhp in the future is the SVO/FRPP/roots style blower. Most guys seem to be able to put down ~300 hp and they are torque monsters. Great low end fun for the street...

I have the same charger just recently installed and it pulled 345 at the wheels and 365 rwtwq. And this is an automatic with 2800 stall and 3:73 gears. I cant wait until i get a dyno tune and 90mm lightning MAF. But ATI's chip burning is a lot to be disired.

You aren't going to see the power you are hoping for with a supercharger on your car. I'm not a GT expert but I would say some good heads are a MUST for you right now. If you put on a supercharger with those stock heads of yours you will be barely beating stock LS1s. That being said it depends on what you want. Do you mind a loud supercharger or not? Do you want to tap your oil pan or not? It sounds like you should do more research before you buy one.

i am now considering a svo or allens. i know it wont give me the most hp, but it will give me more down low. should make the car more fun to drive. not as loud i gather. any idea what i might be pushing hp wise with my mods & one of these two choices. thanks

As I have said you should get a set of heads before you get a supercharger. If you get a supercharger you will have to change your fuel injectors, fuel pump, get it dyno tuned, and have someone install it (unless you can install it yourself). $$$$ gets up there real high and there are alot of hidden costs when you look at the supercharger's price tag. And for all that money you won't be very fast at all because of the restriction your heads will put on the supercharger. At best you will be slightly faster than a STOCK LS1 and you would still lose badly to a stock 03 Cobra.

A big advantage of superchargers, is that the higher pressure drop
of 'not so good' heads can be corrected by increasing the boost.
You can get any airflow you want, up till the limits of the lower
end, (or fuel limitations)

Well I must agree with monkie on receiving the headers first before a supercharger. Being that its a 96 which is stock at around 200 plus horses the headers are your best bet. If you add the vortech which I believe is your best bet the best you can get out of it on a stock engine is 320 horses if that. Plus I truly recommend an after-cooler, don't get me wrong I am not trying to bash your stang. I am just being realistic. Headers are definently the first way to go before a supercharger!

I don't know how much this matters now, but I'll let you know Wednesday or Thursday after I get my Vortech Aftercooled slapped on, I'm also getting a set of BBK Shorties put on to help get all that boost out. I'll give you the results about a week after that. I'm gonna be goin to the track so hopefully my numbers will be better then they were before. (SCT Tune)
