What Tire Size???

On my '89 GT, I have 17" x 9" wheels. The Back tires are 275/40/17, so should the front tires be 235/45/17? I need the profiles to match on the front and rear. Thanks for any help.

You will be about 1.5" off in width from front to year.

235/45R17 = 25.3x9.3
Rear
275/40R17 = 25.7x10.8

Thank you, but I am talking about the profile on the sidewall, I guess. And according to the calculator, I guess these sizes should be correct.

245/45's up front with 275/40's in the rear are a perfect match.

But will the 245/45/17's rub in the front? I just dropped the front about 1 1/2".

Come to think of it. Back when I was running 9" Cobra R's I was running 235's up front due to rubbing. (They looked small) on the 9" rims though.
Now I'm running 8.5" rims with 245's. Mine is lowered as well. No rubbing whatsoever with this settup.

You could go with a 245/40/17 but the profile will be really low, but it may not rub because the tire will be a little shorter.
