I'm getting a 5.0 roller longblock from a 93 mustang.
I will get the block, crank, pistons, rods, heads , timing chain cover, cam.
Wont have an intake.

What are some good mods to make it fast but not totally kill my wallet?
I was thinking a good H/C/I combo

what cam, intake and heads?

What other recommendations you guys have?

A good H/C/I combo would be good, depending on how much money you have and how much HP you want. They kind of go hand in hand.

Before you spend a dime on it I suggest you sit down and come up with a goal you would like to reach.

Then sit down with a calculator and add up what exactly will be needed to put this together including all the little things like gaskets, bolts, etc...

Then do a little research on the goal you would like to achieve and how to best get there.

Trust me from experience, you will save a lot of $$$$$ if you do.

Good Luck!

I'm pretty sure i cant afford forced induction, i just want somthing really fast that sucks you back when you floor it, i want somthing that might run 13's or so.

So should i just take the longblock apart and clean everything up? Then look at a rebuild kit or something? ( do they come with all the gaskets?)

Then for the intake, i was thinkging about an upper and lower from a ford exlorer. I Hear they are nearly identical to GT40 and cobra intakes.

Then what are some good heads? and cam?

If 13's is what you are after it doesn't require much. I ran 13.5's with a stock block, stock heads, stock headers, stock injectors, etc... all on stock tires. See my sig.

If the block has a lot of mileage on it and looks like it might need a rebuild then now would be the perfect time to do it. The rebuild kits don't come with all the gaskets, you have to buy them seperate.

A lot of people run the Explorer intake and seem to do well with it. Tmoss can help you with that.

As far as heads go, there are a lot of good heads on the market today. A good example of a good head (not the best but a great value) is the GT-40Y's from http://www.buyfordracing.com/shop/product_info.php?products_id=518. $749 for aluminum heads fully assembled is a good price and will give you good performance.

A cam would really not be needed to get 13's but could net you a few more HP if you have the extra money. I would contact Ed Curtis at FTI and he could help you choose one of the best for your combo to meet your goals.
