What to do with $6,000 on a 2002 blown GT?

Hey I just need some advice and opinions. I have a procharged 2002 mustang GT and $6,000 to spend on it. I have to get forged internals (pistons, rings, crank) should I get the stroker kit? A whole new short block? Or just pistons rings and crank? Where is the best place to purchase forged internals? About how much with the internals run me? Any advice will help me out a lot.

i would go with a new forged shortblock.

are all great companies for shortblocks. You can also get your heads ported and polished and some blower cams with the left over money.

But if you must spend the money, go with what DTP said. How's your rear end? 31+ spline axles? Suspension? Tranny?

okay well depending on the HP you want to make I think the piston and rods are the only must replace items to a certain point. I think the crank is actally pretty strong.

how many miles are on the engine? the real question comes in at what kind of shape is the current setup in? how much boost do you want to run?

I would probabaly run manley rods and pistons as I have used them in old hotrods so I know the company. if you decide to upgrade the crank I would proablay run a cobra crank. you can buy all this as a shortblock though and sell you existing one if you don't want to hassel with the teardown and buildup of the motor. this is proably what I would do if I wanted to go fully forged at my milage. I would not mess with stokers personally. I would spend that extra money on 31 spline axles, rear girdle, clutch upgrade, etc. I mean once you forged you will ahve 500-600hp potential even on stock heads and cams so you tranny and the rear end will need some attention.

My mods are, procharger 8 psi, intercooler, 42lb injectors, svt focus fuel pump, and chip thats it. I was planing on getting shortblock, 31spline axles, clutch, shifter and headers. Just wanted a few opinions.

Hey Derek.. go to www.modularpowerhouse.com and they have all you need. Get the street/strip 302 Stroker motor

Can't go wrong there. I can't wait to see that thing with a forged motor in it and running some high boost

http://forums.stangnet.com/search.php search about what the 5.0 stoker is about, not a good idea to do on the 4.6L because there already is enough stroke, need more bore.

You could get a basic forged VT block for $2900, Once the engine is being replaced you can upgrade to a aluminum flywheel/clutch/plate

If you want 31 spline axles you'll have to look into new differental, might aswell throw in gears too plus installing $1000

You should just wait for your stock internals to take a sh1t. Then you can go ahead and rebuild with forged parts. If you REALLY want to spend your cash you can strengthen the rear end (like others said), as well as the tranny

Wait for your car to break, then fix it????? How would you like it if your car died on the Highway 100miles from anywhere and your cell just died. I would rather spend the money now and strengthen the motor now so that it won't break and leave you stranded.
