i called mustang tuning to place a order for gears and a sct xcal2...they said i wouldnt be able to keep the saleen tune and just load a tune for 3.73s, i would have to go to a dyno and rewrite everything just for a gear change...i really want these gears before the racing season ends but i cant get in for a tune in time and i dont want to ride around with my speedo off...what should i do..

Piece of cake.

Did the exact same thing to may 02 and 01 S281's when I upgraded to 3.73's before mods and tuning. Super easy installation too. Takes about 15 min.

or would you just order a fuel pump and reichard pulley with the gears and tuner and have it all done at once....

Yep, that would be a better move!

Also, with a custom dyno tune you'll know exactly where your A/F is at instead of guessing what kind of A/F numbers the Saleen tune is.

i see you have 42s and a bigger maf, do you think i would need that if i go with the smaller pulley, i know it sounds bad but im trying to make this as cheap as possible

I have bigger injectors, but stock MAF. No...all you need for a smaller pulley is the bigger pump. The stock MAF and injectors will be enough.

+1 I agree, get a custom tune and go with a smaller pulley and bigger pump. I went with the Focus pump and it was so easy to install. You can just take out the stock pump and put the new one in. Take about 30 minutes.

+2, i'd stop on those 30's around the 360rwhp mark. however you would make more power with the lmaf and it wouldnt peg out nearly as fast.

Not sure about the rwhp limitations of the 30 lb injectors or the stock MAF. However, I will tell you with the numbers in my signature I pegged the stock MAF.

What everyone is telling you is good. If you want to spend the dough go for the mods. If not and you just want to do gears you can do the speedcal and call it a day. It's easily reversable also.
