This might sound like a bumb question.
On my car the smog pump is removed and the idler pulley as well but recently remove the Altenator and A/C then put them back on but now the belt is too long. This is a stock size belt. When I first pulled it off it was to tight. So thight that teh top bolt on the Altenator was not used so that the altenator can move a little more and make that belt fit. My problem is that know the belt is extreamly big. The first time it was installed it was done by a my mechanic now it is done by me I really don't remeber is he re routed the belt so that it can fit and probaly made the water pump turn the opposite way but for me it does not fit and I am tring to install it the proper was way so that every thing can turn the way it is suppose to.
-Can anybody Help

-Is there a different way to re-route the belt?
-What size short belt should I buy?
-Should I get a smog pump remover kit with that dead pulley?
-Should I get a (tensinor) Idler Pulley?

I just bought a mustang and it has the same mods. I just got a stock idler pully and used an empty hole just below the altenator. Without the idler, the belt was almost rubbing on itself.

This Diagram is great but I have no tensioner. That is where the problem is.

What happened to the tensioner? You are going to have to get one, unless you want to spend alot of $ on a March alternater adjustment kit or something like that. I saw a stock tensioner on ebay for about $10 the other day.
