what to get to lower my car, plus a paint question

I want to lower my car, but unsure of what all it takes. Is it just a matter of getting lowering springs? Any suggestions on brand and hardware??

Also I am thinking on getting my car painted during the winter. I fell in love with the mystic cobra color. This paint is soooooo sick. Does anyone know if this is a factory ford paint? Or is it a mixture of some paints? Any idea how much a paint like that MAY run??

that is a verrrrrrryy expensive color - i'm not sure how much, but i remember saying to the guy, your full of ****, when he told me the price - it is called chameleon - and it is sweet as hell, do you have a fox? It would look sweet on a fox, you should get the darkest one, they have a couple, they are solid colors, and at angles look like that, that one i beleive is probably the Green Sidetone Purple, or Pruple side tone Green - and i bet at another angle, it's gold! good luck - and i love it lol

yes I have a 92 vert. I saw this color and damn near shat my pants......I'll put mods on hold for now if I can get my car painted like this...lol. Only thing I wonder is how this color will look with a vert, black top and black on black leather interior.

Yeah, just get some lowering springs from MM, Steeda, or Eibach. You may also have to get caster/camber plates and/or bumpsteer kit. But that will be determined after test driving.

Also coil-overs seem to be very popular but expensive. The ride height can be manually adjusted for different conditions.

I believe the original mtystic color was made by 3M for Ford...very expensive compared to regular colors.

been looking into it and the chameleon paint ranges from like 275 a pint to 300 a pint. How many pints does it take to pain a car? Also to use this type of paint does it require a specialized system? Going to go talk to auto body shops after work. Just want to have a good idea going in, so they cannot snow me.

Thanks 95cobra, I'll look into those things.

All these folks on here getting their cars painted inspired me to get mine. So I am going to hold off on mods for now and get my car painted.

you might be able to mimic that effect a lot cheaper with some pearl. a friend of mine did a test panel for his show truck with black paint and green pearl. it looks black until light hits it then it shows green

Actually it is made by Dupont, I assume you could get some from someone for the right price.

G6/7099 Mystic Chrome Effect it is called for 2004 Ford Colors. Call your local (brother-in-law maybe) bodyshop and have them find out what it costs before you decide! :jaw:

P.S.- Love Steeda lowering springs, looks good without being all stupid down in the weeds and snakes foreskins level and are designed to HANDLE well. I got the stiffest (competition) springs they have and the car corners like a go-kart- a lane change typically scares the caca out of SOMEBODY next to you. Kinda like teleporting into the next lane.

i know for the mystic and mystichrome cobra's the paint has millions of little photogenic particles that show different colors depending on what angle the light hits it, so from one angle of looking at the car, you will see purple straight on, blue on the fenders, and green on the hood (just an example)

the package was 1000 dollars more on an 04 cobra.

i think it would look clean as **** on a vert w/ black top and black interior. definitely stand out more :nice:

$1749 just to buy the 1 quart kit (that's like one bottle of oil) for your fox... that's not including labor or body work. That's crazy! Bad a$$ paint though.

You cant get mystic paint unless you own an actual mystic cobra.. They check your vin number and send a rep from BASF to veryify how much paint will be needed.. Mystic paint typically costs $400+-/pint..

Very true, a buddy of mine has a '96 mystic cobra and he got hit and needed his quarters repainted. Rep come out, with paint in hand, and took what was left with him after the repair was complete.

As for lowering the car, if you use coil overs you need caster camber plates that are made for coilovers. Personally I had coilovers on my car for about a week and hated the ride. Took them off and went with FMS B springs. Rides much nicer and handles like a dream.
