I run 275/50/15 m/t drag radials at #14 and launch at 6K rpms. If you dont want to leave that high I would try around 4500.

Every car is different. This is something you must figure out for yourself through testing and tuning. Then the day will come where you can take the pebble from my hand, Grasshopper.

It's all luck, IMO. A buddy of mine had a set of M/T Drags, and he launched off the limiter. Stock rear, stock T5, ran every Wednesday and Friday at our local track. He never broke a thing.

On the other hand, I knew a guy with an 01 GT, stock 5 speed, stock rear, and he had a set of Nitto 555R's. He launched it hard on the strip, not off the limiter or anything, and he snapped an axle.

Just go with what works. Unfortunately with D/Rs, you have to launch hard to get out of the hole really well. That's the nature of the beast.

A 17" Nitto... I wouldn't launch off the limiter, but thats just coming from me who ran a pair of those at one event.

Never did figure them out as I had an easier time on street radials!

Get a AAA premium account, and if you break the axle you will have a guaranteed ride home 100 miles free tow.

Very cheap and well worth it. Only problem I sometimes have it asking for a flatbed and then the tow truck driver worrying about picking the car up.

Personally I would be, But like others said, it can be a hit and miss...

Mine lasted one rev limiter launch and broke an axle with a stock motor. I think you should try it anyway though since it's not my car and carnage is sick.

Yea then you can make a "went to the track and broke my car thread" and the cool kids will say "nice work", and the pansies will say "thats why i dont race my car..."

x3...

My stock axles lasted forever, swapped in some 28 spline ranger axles and they lasted 2.5 passes! Didn't scare me from racing the car again though. We drove 2 hours to drop mine off, then back to NY 2 hours to get another broken car, then back 2 hours home...

Wasn't bad other than burning my hand on some turbo piping.
