Well, I'm going to look at an 04 mach 1 tomorrow. What should i look for as signs its been beat on? Most of the time i pay attention to what the motor sounds like, but i dont know for sure what to do. My only concern is that i dont want to buy another vehicle that has been raped in the past. Its an 04 dsg mach 1 with cobra r 18's. Dont know why the previous owner put them on but o well. besides the rims, it appears to be stock except for maybe exhaust. Only bad thing is the price which is 20k. Hoping to get them down some more.

feel and listen to the transmission. They have known issues with syncros going out.

Listen to the right head for a very loud tick...some mach's right head doesnt get cooled properly and causes valvetrain noise.

if it doesnt have many mods...chances are it has been taken care of decently.

the good news is
its a dsg
thats the fastest of the mach's

also...after you own it...you'll never wanna do without a shaker again

A "bone stock" car is "less likely" to have been modded and beat upon.

Alright, thanks for the tips on what to look for. I drove a yellow mach that the synchro going into 3rd didnt like me and grinded a little. I'm used to bad synchro's, i used to have to force my chevy 1500 into 4th, luckily i wasnt going for speed so i skipped and went to 5th. I think they will come down on their price, since they are selling some 30k cars for 20k right now, nissan maxima to be exact. Hopefully they wont notice that i got some hail damage today, nothing major just some chips on the hood and a couple little dents. I never did like dsg because my g/fs focus and looks like crap, then i saw it on a stang lol.

Well went to look at the mach today. the vinyl on the hood was almost completely ripped off, chin spoiler has seen about 3-4 curbs. cobra r's with absolutely no tread on the back, and i could barely push the clutch in. the throwout bearing was whining enough i couldnt hear the motor. Pretty much been raped so i turned and walked away before i even drove it.
