Hey All,

Im lookin for somemore advice from you 5.0 profs....okay so thanks to all your advice i've decided im looking for a foxbody, preferably 87-93 (not definate) stang with in/around 100,000 kms or less if thats possible. Now i have looked around for years and dont not know what i should pay for a stang in good shape with that amount of kilometers. What is a good price?? where do i draw the line that im being a chump and getting suckered??? Anyone selling a stang thats close to what im looking for let me know.

In the 5.0L tech section there is a useful technical sticky. It has my "buying a fox body" thread. That will point out all of the problem areas for you to keep your eyes on.

Price: It's hard to tell you a "set" price for a clean car. The reason is value changes depending on location and amount of 'nice' cars availble at the time of your purchase. Some general guide lines in (USD of course)

$1,500 might run, probably rusty

$3,000 decent car with an OK body

$5,000 a great runner with shiny paint (higher mileage)

6-$8,000 is where it'll get tricky. You can find completly stock cars with no miles or really moddified cars with lower miles in this range.

$13,000+ an authentic 1993 SVT Cobra

Hard question to answer.
I live in Ontario, but haven`t paid close attention to Mustang prices.

5.0L Fox bodies seem to be pricey up here now, likely because they are getting scarce and harder to find in good shape.

Look on www.autotrader.ca for an idea of what people are asking for used Mustangs.

Hey thanks i will definiately check out your thread to look out for those problem areas. I have looked online in the autotrader.com as well as buysell.com, but like you were say 5.0's are chatching higher prices these days...i mean im willing to pay, my biggest concern is quality, the shape the cars in.

autotrader.com is for the USA.

autotrader.ca covers all of Canada.

Prices in the USA are usually lower.

Here in Quebec, you won't find a mint fox body under 10,000... a clean coupe may go over 10k...

I paid 3,000 for my coupe and it needs paint and a new engine...

I know where I can get a MINT 1983(or 82?) GT350, it's a real GT350 not just a dealer sticker, well there's nothing super special about the car but it is rare. The car itself has original paint, original porno red interior, everything is like new and he's asking 11,000 for it. I know how much he paid for it...

He got it from a dealership, the owner bought the car new (also owns the dealership) and the car stayed in the showroom for 10 or more years, then used for car shows, I think the story is that the original owner gave it to his wife or something but I think there's 60,000km or less on the car right now. It's sitting in a little garage, in a little town near vermont. He paid 6,000 for the car I would have bought it in a heart beat... now at it's current price, I don't know...

Out here around Vancouver a lot of guys ask $5000-$7000 with 150k-180k kms and light mods (pullies, CAI, exhaust, etc.). This is just my experience from browsing.

Depending on the condition and what you want, 5-8g is alright I'm thinking. I would pay less for a car that has the engine, suspension or interior modified. Obviously a stock car with fewer kms is going to be close to the 8g mark maybe higher. I bought my car stock with an alarm and some kind of exhaust at 174k kms for $4600, needed the bottom of TLC. Good luck!
