Exhaust manifold. Were it meets the o/r x pipe. Its got an exhaust leak around there because it cant competely fasten all the way down becuase of the stud(s).

replacing clutch soon. should I just go ahead and get a billet alluminum flywheel or just get the clutch. could I get A website that sells spec stuff. I have tried centerforce before and want to try spec. I didnt really like centerforce becuase at 5500 the clutch pedal felt weird. The FMS clutch I had in my 89gt wasnt bad at all really. Felt better than that centerforce, but that darn 89gt is all messed up now.
The reason why is I sold it to this 18yo kid who made A deal with me that he would rebuild the rearend and paint the car. Well he cracked the head from using an impact to tighten down the header bolts (this is what I was told by a reputable friend). Blew the motor. Went to put another one in and put the clutch disc in backwards messing it up to. Awhile ago I drove by his house and saw bondo and primer all over the car. WTF I loved that car and now look at it.

so no one knows how to correctly take out that stud?

its wierd if i ask a technical question no one even views the thread but if i were to ask what supercharger or aftermarket part everyone flocks like geese to give their two cents.

im sorry if i sounded rude but come on i tried to take that pos out many times and cant get it out. its leaking pretty badly and making my car sound and run like crap so if no one wants to help then this place isnt what i thought it was.

i just need to take it out and place a bolt there so i can tighten that x pipe to the manifold correctly.

well, the way i did it was a propane torch(plus vise grips i think...). You really have to heat that bad boy up. Local autoshop sells replacement studs for the mustang, not sure about your year though. Thats my 2 cents.

Spray it well with PB Blaster or another quality penetrating oil. WD40 is not a penetrating oil, just a lubricating oil.

You will now use 2 nuts. Put the first one on and wind it down to a couple of threads up from seated. Wind the second nut on. Tighten the two nuts against each other. Put a wrench on the lower nut and loosen that stud right out.

I believe (if they don't already have it) you can use a dremel to grind a slot in them, then use a flathead screwdriver to back them out.

Penetrating oil. I let it soak in over night and then grabbed the studs with some channel locks and they broke free, then I just unscrewed 'em with my fingers! hah.

I used the vice grips on mine. The penetrating oil did not work. The guy
was out of PB Blaster, so sold me what he said was next best. The lower
one was not too hard. The upper was a pain since it was harder to get
a grip on. I went out and bought the curves jaw vice grips. My old pair was
flat and worn down so would not grip. It came out, but did not want to.
Love my SLP X pipe, and cat back.

This is the best way but if you have an impact wrench use it instead of a regular wrench.
