what tuner and intake do you suggest on a 06 gt. i just saw a S&b with predator that is supposed to give up to 40 rwhp but i like the look of the c&L better.

No offense Mike, but there's no way that any canned tune especially if your referring to the standard predator will provide anything close to 40rwhp, regardless if it's with an S&B, C&L or any other CAI for that matter..On the other hand, if you take your car to a professional tuner who would custom tune your car on a dyno ?? then perhaps with the addition of a cold air intake, you may see up to 30 and maybe even 35 rwhp if your lucky but no more than that..Anyway, if you really like the C&L ?? I would go with it, at least the C&L will provide more of a HP and Torque gain than the S&B...

I am very interested in getting a CAI in the near future. Reading all the stuff here about how the Steeda pipe smooths out the airflow over the factory rubber tube. I was wondering if anybody knows if the Westin Motorsports GT High Velocity Intake System would be decent as well. It is setup identical as the late model ram air F-bodies were...huge filter and MAF sit directly in front of the throttle bodies(no curves would be better right?). You may also purchase a ram air box that isolates it from the rest of the engine compartment as well. They show increase of 28 rwhp to a completely stock GT with NO tune.

2 cai's that have been PROVEN time and time and time again are the JLT II and the C&L. No reason to be someone's guinea pig to try something different; those 2 are proven. I recommend an SCT tune from BamaChips, Brenspeed, or Evolution... also proven to be "the big 3" for "internet tunes" for the 3V.

I spoke to Brent on Tuesday about ordering an SCT Xcalibrator-2 for my car. He was very patient and thoroughly answered all of my questions. Yesterday I called back and spoke to Dave when I placed my order. During the conversation the fact that I was in the military came up and they took 5% off my order. What sold me, aside from his attentiveness and reputation for a quality product, was that he told me that when I'm ready to add a CAI, he will recalibrate the XCalibrator for free, provided that I purchase the CAI from him.

you WILL NOT gain 40 rwhp on these cars with just a tune and C.A.I. I prefer SCT Xcal2 and C&L, but JLT and steeda are a proven combination. I'm sure that there are others out there that are just as good, but these are the only ones that I have seen work.

They did a comparison of all cai ,in I believe 5.0, about 6 months back and any cai you get will achieve the same resulting numbers. The difference is the tune that you use with it.

If you're saying that all CAI's produce the same gains, and only the type of tune used will make a difference, then I have to respectfully disagree. Each CAI tested in the 5.0 article produced a different gain with the same tune on the same engine.

If you look at the latest Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords, they do a track test and found that the Ram Air type CAI ran 13.68 vs 13.83 for the Steeda intake.(car had 20's on it) They measured intake tempretures and found the Ram air was actually cooler than the outside air temp while the Steeda one was higher. Based on that I made a ram air scoop with some plumbing hardware last night and manufactured some parts to keep my Tunable Induction intake from getting any "hot air"(cardboard and black duct tape). The duct runs from the front bumper to the rectangular cutout by the headlight. ($15 including black duct tape) It really felt different sucking in the cold air from the outside even after a long highway run. The scoop sits underneath the front bumper like the old school "March" ram air scoops. I'll post some picks on a new thread once I take some pictures. Long and short, it's not just the dyno numbers...

As a future GT owner, I'm also interested in CAI/tuner combos but I'm also curious to know if anyone's tried Granatelli's CAI package.
