what type of auto transmission fluid

I have a 96gt auto ith the 4r70w...im about to change the fluid and was wondering what type to get?...should I get royal purple? or synthetic?...

search is your friend on this one, tho i'd say Mercon V semi-syn/syn or Mobil 1 full syn ATF - don't go RoyalPurple; they add all kinds of friction modifiers that have no place in auto transmissions.
Also i'd highly recomend installing a front mount tranny cooler and reducing the size of your sig picture
