I'm taking apart my car as of now, and when my buddy and I took off the hood, we noticed that a previous owner had cut out to sections on the underside of the hood. I have a picture of it on the second page of my car domain page: http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/820821

Any ideas why it's there?

That's what I thought. If you both the car from a private seller and if you have his/her number maybe you can call them up and ask.
