what was the problems with the 99 cobras?

i have heard of a problem 99 cobras had, wha twas this problem? and how much power did they lose? and i dont know if mine is fixed cuz i recently bought it. thanks -Jeff

Call your Ford dealer with your VIN and ask if it was done. It was an intake or heads problem... As far as I remember.

you can bring your VIN number to see if yours had the fix. they were rated at 320hp IIRC, but they were dynoing at below that a car making 320crank hp. the fix consisted of an extrude honed intake manifold and a PCM reflash. i believe some cars also got a new catback.

I believe the problem was intake and exhaust, and they install some flowmaster exhaust for you and you're all set. At least thats what i hear from some peopel that have had the install done.

Also, you might want to try posting this in the SVT forums, you'll get better answers and faster replies im sure.


EDIT: Yeah after reading BDCARDINAL's reply he is right, they replaced the cat-back exhausts with new ones, and gave the car a reflash. I remember now, because I was looking for 99 Cobras at one point, before i got my GT
