what was your first experience with a 5.0 Mustang?

Forgot to mention, and I can't edit bc I'm posting from my phone.

In my house, everybody has toyotas:
camry, corolla, Tacoma, sequoia, and rav 4. And then there's an outcast, which actually gets the most attention when anyone comes over...my stang. :)

my family is the same way. my mom drives a cavalier and my dad drives a volvo (turbo 5 cyl is strangely fast from 40+mph) no one ever really understood my mustang obsession. I had an 01 v6 for a while (that i just started driving again a month ago). I ended up selling it to my mom and used the money to get the '91. No one in the family understood why i would intentionally buy a car that was 10 years OLDER :rlaugh:

Mine starts in mid 80's when i was 16 and heard my first 5.0. I fell in love with the sound and looks of the cars. Well at the time my dad was into the opals. So well i got my first of about 8 opals modded it and moved on.Went years wanting a stang but never did for some reason? Then in 2002 i was car shopping and looking for a fox. Well i didnt really see much worth anything,so i was driving by the dealer one day and stopped in to look. The theif (salesman) sand whatcha looking for? I said a stang pre 93 oh nothing that old. See ya so the next day he cals hey you still looking for a stang?Sure so well long story short, tradded my jag for my 95 GT then traded that for my 93 SSP then traded that for my 89 clone plus bought a 92 (now modded) 4 banger coupe and it's snowballing everyday since!peace

cause a fox body is the sexiest and best looking stang! :hail2: thats another reason i traded my 95 for my SSP! peace

When I was 17, I sat down in the passenger seat of my '86 and my dad sat in the driver's seat and turned the key. The grumble of the V8 as it came to life was an all new experience for me. It was right then I knew I had to bring that car home.

First car I ever drove was my dad's 88 gt vert 5spd, with my brother pissin' and moanin' in the back seat. My dad let me tear it up on the back country roads near my grandparents house. I killed it the first time I took off from a dead stop, after that I took to it like a duck to water. I have never wanted any other car since. I'm 32 now and have had other cars, but until I got my 7-up a few years ago I've always wanted a stang. I plan on keeping my 7-up till the day I die.

My first 5.0 Mustang experience involved me at the age of 14 riding with my brother in his 94 Z28. We were out riding around one night when he *thought* he was going to pick on a fox body GT. He got his ass handed to him and I will always remember that white GT.

When I really started getting into them was when my best friend in high school got a 91 GT. It felt like the fastest thing in the world. We had 3.73's and a tremec put in, and we put on underdrive's, march ram air, headers, off road H and flowmasters. That's a pretty quick car for a high schooler.

My first Mustang experience involved being able to drive my 68 coupe, when my other brother owned it. It was a 200ci inline 6 with a 3 speed back when he had it.

i started looking into them in middle school, i test drove a few and that was that. ive had my 90 for almost 5 years now i believe and i couldn't be happier. i haven't driven it much cause it needs motor mounts but im finishing that up today and i cant wait. now if i could get this damn snow to melt.

I drove a new 79 5.0 at a dealer in Biloxi, and the door trim was installed upside down. But it had a V8.
Bought a 280zx as my first new car. Was ok but would spin the fanbelt and slip the clutch, but never wanted to spin the tires.

Things were going well, and went to try out an 82 GT. Jackass salesman could not find the keys and did not want to show me the car.

Another dealer finally had one I could drive.

Then I found the Red on red 79 Capri 5.0 Ghia on used car lot in Panama City FL, in the pouring down rain on a Saturday afternoon. Salesman had the key in a second, cranked it up. Fell in love, bought it over the phone during the week. Drove down to pick it up Friday night.

Still have it, and 4 others. Best car ever made.

To me, this says it all, reliving my first experience in a 5.0 in my very own 5.0 (slightly more modded than the one i first rode in though :) )

Are you referring to the door panel? The 79's had the door handles at the bottom of the door...

My VERY first experience with a 5.0 was when I was 4 years old in 1988 and my cousin came over in his nearly-new 87 maroon T-Top GT. He let my dad drive it and I rode in the back looking out the t-topless roof. My dad chirped the tires a little bit (probably didnt want to go crazy with a 4 year old in the car) and I was into cars even then and got a real kick out of it...22 years later I remember it like yesterday.

As I hit my early teens and really got into cars more and more, there was a guy in my neighborhood had a 92 Z28 25th anniversary with some sort of awesome sounding exhaust and I watched him drive by my house all summer long and I swore I would get a Camaro...that sorta faded as I got more into 4x4 trucks. Then one day in 1998 sealed the deal...

At a small gathering of some family and friends, the son of one of my dad's friends stopped by in his 85 GT. It was mostly stock IIRC but sounded great and I thought it was the coolest thing ever. When he left sideways I knew that was the car for me. I ended up with an 85 GT of my own as my first car and 15 Mustangs later, the love for them has never left me. Soon I will get my next one...

5.0's have been in in my life sinc I was a kid. Growing up in Maryland in the 80's/90's was mustang central. One memory I have is going to Ocean City as a kid with my family and seeing a what seemed like millions of 5.0's cruising up and down coastal highway.

Actually, the map pocket at the bottom of the drivers door was upside down. It was the same red color as the Capri I got later. The combo of the wrong trim and the salesman resulted in a no sale.

I had only had two Mustangs before that, a 65 and a 74.

My first experience in a 5.0 was when I was about 16. My buddy from school had a 90 SSP. He brought me home in it from school and was sideways the whole way. Damn that car was a lot of fun....it all started with that. The next spring I bought my 89 and haven't looked back since.

In the mid 90's I was about eight and my dad's friend had just bought a silver '86 GT t-top. We went for a ride at night and remebering being scared to death in the back seat with nothing to hold on to. I also then knew a few people that had 87+ GTs. Then when I turned 16 my mom bought a new lazer red '02 GT 5spd. and rode in it for awhile, but I was never allowed to drive it - three times in three years! She sold it and still misses it. I'm nice tho and once I let her take mine for a drive :rlaugh:

I was 9 when my uncle purchased a 1989 Mustang GT...It was love at first sight! He drove me around and I have been wanting one ever since. I finally scratched the itch when I bought an 88 GT last weekend. I immediate called him and sent him pics of it, and he actually cried. His was stolen about 15 years ago, so it brought back lots of memories for him.

i got one of them to... all my friends make fun of it but its great on road trips and getting back and forth to work in. plus heated seats are very nice

First memorable experience: watching my friend fishtailing down the street in his brand new, black '86 Saleen. This after he'd taken me for a spin around the block. I was around 15 years-old. My buddy was a few years older, maybe 19. I already liked the Mustang, starting with the 85s, but before that day I hadn't seen one "in action". Having grown up during the 70's there were still a lot classic muscle cars roaming the streets. I always figured I'd have one. Well, after that day my dreams of owning a late-60's SS Chevelle immediately got pushed right to the side. The smaller dimensions on the Mustang were perfect, it looked cool and the dual tailpipes reminded me of my dad's '68 396 Chevelle. After seeing how effortlessly the 5.0 laid down the rubber that pretty much was the capper. From that point on I knew I was going to have one. There was never any doubt. Fast forward some twenty-three years later; the love affair between me and the Fox body 5.0 continues.
