anyone with around 300rwhp, what can you beat and keep up with. Were they stock? or what known upgrades?

I will build the motor someday, and I want to know what 300 can do for me and if it will be enough.

Thanks

Although power isn't the only factor, 300 rwhp should put you on top of LS1 and LT1 F bodies, the LS1 GTO, the LS2 ones would be a stretch, any Non-SC Mustang, 350Z, stuff like that, you would have trouble with any C5 or later Vettes. Depending on traction, you would be in pretty good shape against the Evo/STi guys.

With 300rwhp in a 5-speed GT coupe that has no weight reduction, you should be able to reach the 1/4 in ~12.7@107 with grippy tires and a good launch. That gives you some idea of which cars you should be able to beat.

Lol Nice!! Let me add... MOST stock lt1 z28's (if you have gears AND traction) , ...I am beginning to believe mine was an exception running 13's auto and stock...i digress - sorry, LS1 stock off the line to like 100 (not that you would ever road race!!) , any altima, new stang stock v8 (YES), new maxima, Mercedes ml350, BMW 525, BMW 330, BMW 7 series, dodge magnum wit h 5.7..some of these will be a close race tho depending on lots o factors.

what you prolly won't beat..or be a very very close call at best or if driver misses a gear ..new z28 camaro, new dodge challenger with 6.x liter hemi,..

Add hemi Ram, Z06, GT500, and turbo WRX to the no chance list. This thread makes me wonder how much power the average user makes on this forum. I am guessing about 280 wheel hp. Just a guess

I have less. I would think the average user is stock with bolt ons such as myself. Yall over achievers have H/C/I's and boost or fully built stroker 347's and 351's!

Turbo WRX (un or lightly modded')he will beat - after the initial launch when he catches up and passes. STI - different story. Again, that's IF the sti driver knows how to drive..5-60? forget it, stang wins. I have read about those subs..you have to launch at 6000 rpm dump clutch to get those times they claim, otherwise they are nearly 7.0 secs 0-60.

I've got a friend with an 05 WRX and he needs to put almost $2,000 into the car (Cobb Stage 2) just to hit mid to low 13's so you should be fine with the WRX's...stock STi's also.

My buddy has an 07 STI with a FMIC, boost controller, pulleys, exhaust and a few other little bolt ons. STOCK TURBO!! It makes about 400hp to the wheels. He told me it made 415hp but never said to the wheels soo....... That thing flat out flies. If you've never takin a ride in one, do it. NOTHING like a 'Stang.

I would think a few more cars could be added to the list as "ones you could beat" along with some that "you could hang with" if the following was done to a stang:

300 rwhp (given)
Decent street suspension (not worn out, but must be much better than stock)
Weight savings from aluminum heads, intake, and headers
Battery relocated to trunk (better weight distribution)
Above average street tires
Engine/tranny in good working order, well maintained

The above should improve the list already mentioned and ensure reliability when taking on other cars.

A combo of problems like worn out engine mounts, a harmonic balancer on its way out, and/or a stock suspension with nothing but a spring upgrade will hurt anyone's chances big time.

Remember, you can't beat everyone, but you can be competitive. Being a better driver with consistency can probably make up a disadvantage of 30hp or more.

Anyone have an issue with the above conditions beating a new stock GT stang with relative ease?

Peak power will not win a race but average power can. A car that can make a 250 average will be very hard to beat.

Lifting the front tires looks cool but it is a wast time.

Good driving counts for a lot. I have out run faster cars and been out run by slower cars.
