You take the grey spout connector out, loosen the distributor hold down bolt, and turn the distributor to where you want your timing. It's a free mod if you have a timing light. It will give you a little more umph.

I have a book with all sorts of dyno pulls with different performance parts and such. Advancing the timing to 15 degrees on a stock car was good for 5hp. Pretty significant for a free mod.

Once you advance it that far, you have to run on 91 octane instead of 87, right?

Absolutely. And your car may not be able to handle that much timing. All cars are different. I would say advance it as far as you can without pinging. 14* is what most usually run. But some cars cant even handle that.

well, it's not necessarily the timing that adds the HP... it's the combination of your comp calibrating other stuff, the higher octane gas, and the timing combined, but still a significant free mod...

-I run 89 oct w/ 13 timing no problem... just remember, after you adjust your timing, check for any pinging from the engine... if there is some, lower the timing, and next gas tank, put premium in it, and put the timing back up... you DON'T want to ever drive the car w/ pining
