What will it take to beat an LS1?

Also on the article where that stripper camaro was running high 12's,they said it would bake the tires in second leaving a 10 foot patch. That car was obviously a factory freak anyways,probably had a z06 motor thrown in there by accident. Anyways Ls1 f-bodys are low to mid 13 second cars. 05 stangs are mid to high 13 second cars.

112 in the traps for a supercharged GT? Maybe with a crappy driver,or one of the low psi blowers. They should be trapping 118-120 in the hands of someone that knows what they are doing. Just look at Clevelands car,he has a bit under 400whp(N20) and he is trapping 112, a 450-470whp procharger or vortec is gonna trap higher than 112.

Even at the F-Body Nats I have only met personally a handful of owners sneak into the 12's unless modded with at least a tune/ CAI/ exhaust/ drag radials. LS1s respond very well to mods and they are a marvel of modern technology but a modded car isn't a stock car. Going to the track and talking to other owners and racing is the only way you are going to find anything out. Maybe LS1's are just faster at ATCO or Pomona or Gainsville but at Bowling Green low 13's are the norm for a stocker. I am not saying a few 12 sec. stockers aren't out there but I am saying the odds of seeing one beside you in anytown USA is slim. Learn how to bang the gears and invest in a tune and a CAI and go hunting. Leave the BS to the ricers and the spectators.[/QUOTE]

did you read my post ? i said the NON intercooled is 7-8 psi blowers wich are rated at aproximatley 420 rwhp would trap 112-113 on a OTHER WISE STOCK CAR with gears.

yes go read ls1-tech all you want I OWN A PERFOMANCE SHOP and you wil NOT find but a handfull of freak ls-1 anywhere that run 12s on stock tires .. period

just like im sure some where you will find some low 13 seconds 05 mustangs.. there are factory freaks like that.

motor trend just tested one and the crapy motor trend driver got a 13.5 at 105 out of it. stone stock thats sick mph for a stock 05/06 .. so yes some freaks are out there.

when these ls-1 guys say i went out and ran 12.90 and im stock most of them pulled out the spare tire cut weight off the car etc then say im stock etc .. because the MOTOR was stock.

i build cars for a living and have done maybe 40 ls-1 cars from bolt ons to having tuned one of the fastest ls-1 cars in the world and not ONE has gone 12s stock here in san antonio that i have ever seen or heard of.

Thanks mogs01gt. Another example that will crack you up .......I went to an eighth mile track with some friends a few years ago. With the same mods and street tires I ran pretty consistantly 8.40-8.60's( I'm sure Evan could do 5's) all night but one run my timeslip and the board read get this.....7.80. WTF. It was a timing glitch pure and simple but one guy in particular was jerking off after he saw it and he was going home to tell everybody about that stock Z28 that ran 7.80 right before his eyes. He didn't own a performance car of any type best I could tell but he was a die-hard chevy dude and lived on bench racing and magazine quotes. I would have loved to ACTUALLY run that number but it aint going to happen. So should I tell everyone here my best run a 7.80? Especially when 8.50's were the best ever? I have a timeslip so does that make it the truth, the whole truth and nuttin but the truth? Does the home movie make it a fact? Was the video of bigfoot I saw on the sci fi channel one night fact as well? Maybe that hairy SOB could take my car and run 11's stock. I am sure Evan J could when the cameras are rolling. I am sure most car mag guys like Evan know their stuff but even an expert driver who never misses a powershift or slips a tire on launch cant go 12's in a stock GT or LS1 unless it is a factory ringer car. Remember the late 60's-1970's mags? EVERY test car was a ringer. Every test car ran faster than dealership lot production cars my and your Fathers and Uncles bought then. Hell only a very few cars ever actually ran deep into the 13's.........454SS/455 GS/455 442 Olds/426 Hemi/Boss 429/400 Ram Air III GTO. The rest were high 13's and slower. Our new cars are faster than most of the old musclecars with 3x the gas mileage, half the cubes, cold AC, start on the 1st crank, quiet interiors, killer stereos. What more could someone ask for and with the new GT you have the awesome bodystyle of the old musclecar era. Maybe GM will actually build a 1969 based Z or a Chevelle SS style intermediate body car within the next 20 years with a LS something that will run 12's stock in real life and not in a mag and maybe make it affordible. Not likely but who would have thought 5 years ago Ford would hit a grand slam with a new/old bodystyled GT that runs deep into the 13's STOCK with a SOHC 281? Go figgure

I wasn't refering to your post. If you read what I typed you will see I was agreeing with what you just typed. I'm not sure why you quoted me,and I don't get all my info on message boards,I get most of it at the track.

Remember, that car which Evan Smith tested didn't have the LS6 intake and in the article they said conditions weren't too good. It also said that a 12.7 was possible with better wheather. I wonder if a 12.6 would be possible in great conditions with an LS6 intake???

Getting into the 12's stock is not easy. A low elevation will help. The power is there though so it is possible.
