im buying a 89 gt with a snapped axle. I have a another stock Rear end with 3:73 in it just laying around in the garage, the broke one has 4:10 in it, Should I just swap out rear's or just buy New Hardened axles with 28 splines, this is the second axle the car has broke. how do the hardened splines hold up?

The answer to that one is obvious...the question is really which gears you want. No matter what gears you have, if you're breaking axles you need to step them up. Aftermarket axles will hold up, though more splines is better.
