no one can out shift an automatic and it only adds about 5% to the total drivetrain loss. Have you ever even driven a Mustang with a 4R70W? I seriously doubt you have...

The ws6 is an auto so yes i would say he would win from a dig if he a had a 5sp, my buddy's old 95 firebird 6sp would of lost to my car, thats y he wouldn't go to the track with me, now he has a vette he's all for it. BS huh? Also race a 95 z28 with full exhaust and lid, blew his doors off, but it was a little unfair, 50 roll with his auto not a good thing

yea i know well worth the $20, saved me 50lbs could you believe it? at least that's what any riced out honda would say

Also, an lt1 is not going to have a 100hp over you when all he has more is headers, he most likely has 40hp over you. If he had a ls1 then yea he would probably have 90 or so hp over you

Actually I almost bought one but when I was test driving it
the thing was too darn slow for my taste. The 4R70W transmission
made that 01 GT feel like it had a thousand pound weight being
dragged behind it.
I have driven several LT1's in the past. Those cars have potential
and if the person knows how to drive the WS6 I bet he will lose.

A test drive + your intelligence level = not sufficient to make a worthwhile assesment

Ask him what gears he has, if he has the 2.73's like the auto's in lt1's usually come with that will definitely help your chances, if he has the 3.42's it will be a little bit more difficult

There is more to racing than just horsepower and there is always someone faster.

Anyways gears, tune, transmission cooler will get you to a place where you should easily take him though. Should cost around $1000 for that stuff maybe less especially if you DIY.

Mr. Trout, this just silly. The WS6 may very well have 320rwhp with the headers & exhaust. This GT probably has about 230. 90rwhp is a HUGE difference that will not be overcome by the modifications you just suggested. "easily take him though" made my chuckle loudly.

Someday, if you go to a track, try to race a car with close to 100rwhp more than you. Then go back next week with the mods you suggested. You will probably notice no difference, at best you still lose.

The sort of mods needed will involve heavy engine work suchs as P&P heads froma place like VT along with cams. Then all other well known 4.6L mods. Or, you can Supercharge and get him that way.

My mistake. LT-1?
A stock 99+ GT vs. a stock LT1 is a drivers race. I'd even give a slight edge to the GT because I have seen so many of them win this exact match up that I can't believe all Mustang drivers are better than LT1 drivers.

Carry on Mr. Trout, carry on.
