I have a 93 GT, all stock except exhaust and wheels. Also have a 67 coupe which I have been working on, had to replace the flexplate and replaced various other parts before putting the engine back in. Car is all original, interior is decent but I want to get new upholstery. Car has long tubes, full exhaust system, american racing wheels, paint is good but has body work done in rear quarter. I just got the car up and running a few weeks ago and am now pondering the idea of selling it in order to start working on the 93 GT. I have had the 93 for over 6 years now, it has been my daily driver since I bought it my junior year of high school, I'm dying to start adding mods. This is my situation.... Currently I live with parents mainly my mom in a house we are renting. My dad has been building a house hours from here and my mom plans on moving up there within 5-7 months. That means I will probably move in with my brother because I have to stay here and finish school. Also means living in apartment, basically means no place to work on the cars. The 67 would have to go with my parents where we don't have a garage yet, I probably won't work on it at all the next year or so. What I have been thinking is to sell the 67 and use the money I get from it to start working on the 93 GT. I have been wanting to build a 306 or 331, then depending on how much I get, go from there. My aunt just got a new car and she already has too many and would give me a honda civic hatch for free I think it's a 89 but not completely sure. It runs perfectly and would be a good beater car while working on the 93. Other factors I have been considering are; I have to pay for two more school tuition costs plus books, I currently don't have a job(had one and have money saved), the 67 needs work and more money put into it, the 67 runs but don't know if I would want to drive too far from home, eventually the 67 would need paint to finish it up and minor body work still. Here are two ideas I have that I want opinions or advice on....
1- Sell the 67. Build the short block for the 93 either 306 or 331, h/c/i, other various mods, maybe new paint, etc. After over 6 years, finally start working on the GT. Thinking the GT will need to be rebuilt within a year or so anyway, so why not build a short block. Would be selling a decent classic but would end up with a nice 5.0
2- Keep the 67 and store it at my parents house/property. I probably wont work on the 67 until I graduate. Also means the 93 will probably stay how it is until I'm done with school. I don't plan on getting a job again until my last semester of school because I'm taking full units coming up and then summer school. So I could just store the 67 and not touch either car until I have a job, out of school and have more money. I guess tho, if the 93 were to need work I would have to think about selling one of them.
I'm torn between the choices because I always wanted a classic mustang but then started to really want a 5.0 and when I got one fell in love with it. Even though I have not started any crazy mods I can just think about how fun it would be to work on it. Many people have told me I will kick myself in the butt later for selling the 67. My dad and brother are chevy guys so they are not much help giving me advice, they just say sell both mustangs and find a chevy. However my dad had a 68 GTO and ended up selling it when my older brother was born because the insurance was high. That is one car he regrets selling and I don't want that to happen to me even though his GTO would have been worth more today than a mustang and he bought it brand new/odered how he wanted it. Over the last few months, the classic mustang just hasn't looked as good as working on the 5.0. Plus, several people have also told me to only focus on one car especially when money and space is such a huge factor. What do you guys think, sorry this was so long!
