Ok, I'm completely aggravated with my car. I've been having issues with it constantly(issues starting) and today the transmission will not shift from 2-3 but if I let the rpms drop I can shift it from 4th down to 3rd?? Also it won't pass emissions(needs cats and egr.) I'm really thinking about selling it, I think it would be my best option otherwise Im going to end up sinking a ton of money into it and it still won't be as reliable as I need it to be. I know there are tons of threads like this but I can't afford to continually fix it plus I can't have any down time to fix the vehicle since I drive it everyday to work. I live in an apartment so having two cars would be really rough(plus the cost to insure 2 vehicles). Money is kind of tight right now, as I just proposed to my girl and the ring was expensive lol.

I have put so much time and money into it this car, I would hate to see it go. I've had it for 6 years now. I also know that I won't get **** for it if I trade it in. Even if I sell it privately i wont get anything... I really have no clue what to do. I commute about 30 min to work everyday and need something reliable.

I've seen some ads in the newspaper for new cars at killer prices. 10k+ off new dodge trucks etc. Any suggestions would be great.

If you got money for a new dodge truck then you got money to fix the stang, 10 grand off or not, lol.

You could always give it to me if you don't change your mind.

I've thought about this with mine, but when it comes to it, a new car will cost more no matter how you look at it. What I've come to learn is that my mountain bike is FAR more reliable than any other vehicle I own .

But really, only YOU can put a value on the hassle and distrust you have with the car. Money wise, the car will probably be cheaper. For me, I ended up buying really cheap truck for when the car is down so I don't have to worry about the car. So I didn't save any money, but at least I don't have to get rid of the car or trust it.

You'd more than likely be really pissed at yourself down the road if you let it go. I would go out and buy something used and mostly reliable and have two cars.

I know you said money is short, but you can park your stang until money is more plentiful. I just turned 22 and storage insurance on the Stang is less than $200 a year.

honestly. i have days like that with my car.

but if its the car you want i'd say keep it.

i always loved the sn95 body style, and i've loved the 5.0 motor since my brothers stang. and i love driving stick.

for the amount i'd buy another one for. i could make mine better, and faster and more reliable.

you can put alot of money down on a new car, and not be guarenteed to not have problems.

my mom bought a 2001 windstar from the local ford dealership, low miles, great condition inside and out. around 8 grand i think it was. after a month or so, the check tranny light is on,the e brake light is on,the check engine light is on. and a whole bunch of other codes.

because of how old the car was, it wasn't under warranty.

the 8 grand we spent on that van, we could of put into the other van, and made that one ran brand new again.

i look at it, seeing, the price of the cars i would buy that are newer, and seeing how much it would be to fix my car to how i want it.

why not pick up a cheap beater like a focus or something, while working on the stang making it perfect.

you might end up selling it and regretting it.

Storage insurance? What about the storage fees? Here they are nuts. I asked about renting a garage space and some places and the cheapest I was quoted was $140/mo

I have a friend that keeps my car in a pole barn with other stored vehicles for $50 for the entire winter season. If I so chose he would keep the car stored for free over the summer.

Any close family or friends where you could park the car? Sometimes apartments make exceptions for things like this if you just talk to someone in management?

I guess I'm just lucky.

How much do you want for it?

I learned a long time ago that you cant have a hot rod as your daily driver. I ended up buying another vehicle. The only reason I was able to keep my car was that my parents let me store it for a few years in their backyard. Now it is in their backyard again, and I am 100 miles away.

I just took my fully functional EGR stuff off, cause Iowa has no inspection. If you threw yours away and need it Id be glad to ship it to ya. Just throw it on to pass inspection, then take it back off. As for the cats, Ive got nothing there... I know whats its like to be tight on money, I proposed almost a year ago and spent too much on the ring as well.
