AND it was Fords oppinion as well, seeing that the newer cars were modeled after...the older one And the A/C clutch disengages at full throttle so the only thing you did by runnin it down the track like that is piss everyone else off by drippin water down the track. As for the 27.5mpg, i wont say your not gettin it, but its a stretch and I commend you for it!

Go over on the 05-09 forum, you'll see that 27.5 isn't a stretch at all. Some have gotten close to 30 with a GT. I towed a trailer to Colorado and back 2 years ago and averaged 23 mpg. And that was doing 70-80 on the highway going up and back. As for the water on the track? Funny no one said anything about that. And the guy at the starting line's a stickler for bending the rules.

I said it was a stretch, but not impossible and I was truely commending you on it! I sold for Ford for 3 years during the prime of the new mustang, I know what my customers tell me they are getting and its more in the 20-23mpg range. Then again, there are lots of factors to that, like whether or not it was all highway or a mix etc. Im glad to hear they are puttin decent mileage down.

As for the A/C at the track, ask anyone who frequents any track and they will tell you its a BIG NONO! All summer long at the local 1/8 mile and at Bradenton FL's 1/4 mile track they tell you not to run your A/C in the staging lanes or on the track as the condensation drips all over the starting line and track. Our 1/8 mile is already slippery enough as it is down here, dont need any water to help out
