I plan on purchasing a 5.0 very soon and i did a pretty good bit of shopping around. I came to the conclusion that i want a '91 '92 coupe and there are plenty around. I found a '92 coupe in perfect condition(I mean perfectly stock condition) inside and out with 60,000 orig. miles, pretty much bone stock, light green color. My problem is that i don't know the value of a good orig. 5.0, nada list $1,700 low and $3,250 high. So im ask everyone "what would you pay".

Is it the Calypso green? I would pay more than NADA's top end for a cherry 60k calypso notch if I ever found one for sale.

What was the asking price? I would suspect a price of $6000, but that depends on the region.

i'd say 6,000 is about right, but if your lucky, you could get him down to 5500 or even 5000.

If it's in stock condition with low mileage. Better bring the check book baby.

took me a YEAR to find my 89 lx hatch.........found ALOT of crap out there. this car is NOT mint, but it is not a cobbled together, been beatin on by a 16 y/o for half it's life pos either!
i paid a grand over high book for it too..... and it is stock stock, down to the the silencer...... kelly blue book is way off base on these cars. look at everything, it all adds up when you wanna fix it. i have 4k in mine since i bought it, and thats a 2300k kit, wheels/tires, door lock actuators, weatherstrips, and a few other odds and ends.... i will have an additional 4k by the end of the year with a rebuilt longblock, rebuilt tranny (installing that today) and a rebuilt rear end (weekend after this one)...and i am doing, and have done ALL the work myself, including the aod rebuild....

look for areas that will save you money, things that have already been upgraded....take your time!!!!!! dont jump on the first one, might find a desperate person with a cleaner car next week.....

good luck!

I would jump on it if it's as clean as described. Look for all the common problems. If everything looks good, the car is worth at least that money.

depends on what you want to do to the car? Do you plan to mod it? If you're going to put a long block in it and change the tires/wheels and repaint it within the next couple of years, you might as well find one that's cheaper and maybe been romped a little bit. No since in buying a complete 60k stocker and then redoing everything.

since there aren't many stockers out there (i assume), 5000-6000 would prob. be reasonable depending on the area and condition

yea, value on these cars is odd right now. im in the same boat look'n for a hatch. Granted hatch's are alot more common. There seems to be a grey area between a stock car and a modified car. Where original car value and money invested in aftermarket parts overlap i cant figure out. I set out with a budget of around $3000 to find a fairly stock 5.0 hatch that didnt need body or paint work. Then do all the upgrade's/mechanical work on top of that. Well i was unable to find one but end'd up finding a 92 gt hatch with a little work everywhere(some engine work, 3550 tranny and suspension) and very presentable paint(1 paint inperfection on side skirts, 1 bubble on the A pilar and 2 light scratchs) for $4200 that it looks like i'll be buy'n. So i shot my budget for this season on the car and will have to wait till winter to do any work on it and make it my own.

I agree with above. If your look'n for a stock survivor pay'n that premium is the name of the game. If your looking for something to make yours pay'n that premium is rather foolish.

If its a calypso coupe jump on it. Maybe it even has black interior. One of the best looking coupes IMO. They are getting hard to find anymore.

I paid $3600 for my 93 GT vert and it was about as stock all the way down to the air silencer in the fenderwell. It needed some work but the body was, and still is, in great shape. No rust and one little door ding. Ran great. It needed brakes and a new top. but other than that it was in pretty good shape.
