Me thinks the Moderator added an authorized voting choice. Either that or a Dominion voting machine found its' way into the site.

What car would I take that I'd rarely drive in exchange for the current car that I rarely drive?

........uhhhhh

1.One that is as unique as the one in my garage...
2. One that doesn't drive like a boat, ride like a boat, and stop like a fully loaded 18 wheeler carrying a load of steel plate...
3. One that I know everything about..dating back to the day it was first " un-molested"...
4. One that I can just about do anything with without fear of diminished value, because it was never worth anything to start with....

If it was my first Fox that I had back on the 90’s, I would not sell it for anything.
This one that I’ve been working on would be easier to let go, but the more I work on it, the more attached I get.
we’ll see when I get it back on the road again, but I’m pretty sure there’s a number that would get it from me.

I was offered $10K a year or so ago for my 1991 GT hatchback with T5. Turned him down flat. I bought her new and she is my daily driver since new. Quarter million miles on her. I get people coming up to me all the time wanting to know if I will sell. When they hear the history I have with her, they back off because they know I will never sell. And I won't. My heirs might, but not me.

"nobody wants my junk" Funny stuff! However, I could identify with that. All that time it sat on the repair shop lot has the paint sun bleached. I also had a couple cancer spots get out of control sitting there doing nothing all those years. I also told him when I dropped it off, park it nose uphill, or the sunroof leaks. Now I have a rotted-ass headliner.
But still at the end of the day,,, if I may paraphase Full Metal Jacket, "This is my Fox Body, there are meany like it, but this one is mine!"

I asked my wife how much she would sell my car for and she just replied “I’d pay someone $500 to come take it away.”

I told her “if something happens to me I hope you at least ask $10k”

“for that junk?” She replied

She just doesn’t understand

Your car might as well be new. I bet you could daily drive it for years to come. One of the latest pictures you posted under the car with the crossmember is sweet. Everything is new

I question the value of the 5L5 car's future value compared to a barn find with no rust. In ten years

I’d still give the nod to the barn find. My cars not perfect but well documented in terms of how I’ve restored it. But IMHO the minute I started cutting out the towers and replaced with donor sheet metal I killed a bunch of value. Granted not fixing then killed it more.

but I never intend to sell my car, so it’s a moot point. All I care about is the insured replacement value so that if something happens I can move on without regret.

if I were to buy another fox, it would be a low-mileage stocker in collectible condition

This June will be 24 years with my Fox. I’ve toyed with the idea of selling it for something else a few times, but always came to my senses. I would miss it. Been through a lot together. Plus I would never get close to what I’ve put into it. I’m sure a lot of you guys can relate to that.

However, the last choice is tempting, but, at 50, with my lower back, I can barely handle my wife.

I would not part with mine, would take a lot and nobody would entertain it. I put too much of my personal time into it and I am still not done. I bought my white 93 lx hatch in August 1998 and traded a 1991 red LX auto coupe for it, I wanted a 5 speed lol. I currently have an engine vibe I need to fix and after that, backhalf fuel system, retune, and a few other things. My 3 kids keep me pretty busy so not a lot of extra time in the last few years.
I attached a pic of my first mustang and my current white 93 hatch

It's easier to keep what I have which I like and just continue to pour money into it.
