As some of you know I wrecked the beast. Now that the insurance company is done screwing me I'm getting it back and gonna pull every thing out of it motor, trans, rear end ,procharger, coil overs, the list go's on and on . My question is what years can I put all of my stuff in to? The beast is a 97 gt with only 54k miles

96-98 should be an easy swap because they're all return style and coil pack ignition. If you get a 99-04, then you can swap over the trans, the rear, the blower, and the suspension. But I would not swap over the entire engine. Mainly because stock for stock the PI engines (99-04) are more powerful and have more potential. And COP is better than coil packs in my opinion. If you get a 94-95, then you should swap everything over including the entire drive train and ECU.

Then you'll need an ECU for 96-98 GTs. And you'll have to use a 99+ fuel rail since the 99+ are all returnless and yours is a return style system. Or you can modify the fuel tank for a return set-up but that may be a lot of work.

Thanks that's the kind of stuff I like to hear . I'm gonna pull my ECU out of my car since it has my tune on it and if all I got to do is switch the fuel rail to have a 99-04 body then that's the way I want to go

What do you mean by "built heads"? Are they PI or NPI? And what compression ratio are you at now?

Even with "built heads", it still may be better to swap over the PI heads from a 99-04. The only thing potentially holding this back is the PI heads bumping the compression up a bit too much for the boost. With good tuning, this isn't too big of an issue, but the tuner does have to be careful to watch for detonation. Having an efficient Procharger that doesn't make tons of boost down low helps this out a bit.

Concerning the fuel system, I'd swap your 97 style system (tank, pump, lines, and rails) into whatever you wind up getting. It's already return, and has the old style tank/pump setup (i.e. doesn't have the crappy tank-in-a-basket style of the 98-04). You can drop a nice 320-405 LPH pump in and have a good, easy-to-tune fuel system good for 600+ rwhp. Pretty cheap, also. The only thing I'm not 100% sure about is the 99-04 computer running the fuel pump the way it needs to, and without any issues. I *think* you'd have to swap over your 97 wiring harness for that. I know you can tune the computer to run the fuel pump as a return style (i.e. always on 100% vs. the variable voltage of the 99-04s), but I'm not sure if the computer will freak out without using the FRPS, PPRV, etc. sensors. I'm assuming it would.

99-04 have a variable voltage fuel pump v.s. the 96-98 fuel pumps the that run at a constant voltage. Correct me if I am wrong.

The compression I'm not sure about and the place I got it from said the heads are p&p with upgraded valves, springs and roller rockers. As soon as I get the motor out of the smashed up shell I will get some pics of it and some close ups of the heads with the valve covers off for ya . Here is one of it before the crash.

If you take the intake manifold off you can tell by looking at the ports. PI ports look different than NPI ports. In the pic I uploaded, the heads on the bottom are PI heads and the heads on top are NPI. Whichever ports look like the ports on your heads when you remove the intake manifold, those would be the heads you have. If they are PI, and the bottom end is from a 96-98 GT, then your compression ratio should be right around like 10.5:1.
